The name of the suspected adopted daughter is Mary Polly McDonald. We have family stories that she was a Native American girl adopted by the Samuel and Elizabeth and she was born about 1804 in North or South Carolina. We believe she came with them to Fayette Georgia when they migrated. Some family members believe she was born in Fayette Georgia in 1804. She married James Holmes (Holms) about 1827. They followed the same journeys as the McDonalds did even to Carroll Ga, Randolph Alabama. Mary Polly McDonald Holmes and her husband James moved to Lamar County Ala. She died after 1880 in Lamar County. I am sure that somewhere in the McDonald archives there are records which will verify this mystery.
