Because of the inconsistencies in spelling with M(a)cDonald and M(a)cDonell, I'm posting these in the MacDonald and MacDonell forums as well. I've run across a reference (below) to a great-grandson of Angus Ban of Muniall (Angus Ban settled in Glengarry, Canada, in 1786). I'd like to know more about Alexander M(a)cdonald (or Macdonell?) who apparently was a Colonel in the Confederate army. Does anybody know where? regimental info? anything more than what is in the excerpt below?
