Good to hear from you, Bernard.
I'm sure you'll run into various responses in your quest for information. Slavery was despicable, but I think most modern day whites, whose ancestors owned slaves, feel like,
"Well, I wasn't even alive then, so I certainly couldn't control what they did."
But it saddens me that the institution of slavery ever existed and that my ancestors on both sides of my family
owned slaves.
