Michael James McDonld 1823-1890
G-granddad Michael James McDonald was born in Ireland to a Michael McDonald and Margaret somebody. He evidently had a brother, Edmund and four sisters. Sometime probably in the 1840-1850 interval he sailed from Cork and came to America and settled in Manchester New Hampshire. My father thought he came from Cork, but perhaps he meant County Cork. Cork may simply have been the embarcation point.
Michael J McDonald married Rhoda Felch in 1851. They have ten children, four daughters ( Julia, Margaret, Jean, and Grace) and six sons (John, Edward, William, James, Benjamin, and David).
Earlier genealogical research by my late uncle Walter McDonnell shows the name varibly spelled McDowell, McDonal, and McDonnell as well as McDonald. The name has been spelled McDonnell from grandfather Benjamin forward.
I am interested both in my family roots in Ireland and in other descendants of Michael James
Regards
John
