John Robert McDonald, b. 7 Jan 1875, in Concord, Cabarrus Co, NC.He was son of James McDonald and Mary Frances Johnson McDonald.James b. 1836 in Columbia, Richland Co, NC, d. 1914 Charlotte, Mecklenburg Co, NCand Mary Frances b. 1842, in Troup Co, GA, d. 1919 in Concord, Cabarrus Co, NC.James McDonald was the oldest son of John McDonald b. 1811 in Bloomsbury, Hunterdon Co, NJ and Caroline Dungan b. 1812 in Philadelphia, PA.John and Caroline came to Concord, Cabarrus Co, NC in 1840, when he was selected to be superintendent of the cotton mill there.James McDonald was also superintendent of the cotton mill, but it was sold to Robert P. Odell.James McDonald and Mary Frances Johnson McDonald had nine children, including William J., Charles D., Caroline, Frances, Hal, John Robert,Lila, Kate and Rosalie.Caroline married Louis R. Jordan and lived in Wilson, NC.Mary Frances Johnson was the daughter of Ann Eliza Tysor Johnson and Benjamin Jasper Johnson of Chatham Co, NC.
When I first began looking for John Robert McDonald, I believed he was born in Wilson, NC, because that's what his obituary said.But I have since learned that he was born in Concord, Cabarrus Co, NC.
