My Grandfather was a William Aloysius McDevitt, born in the late 1890's, date unknown. His parents were a Richard and Mary (Foody) McDevitt from Philadelphia or the Philly area. He married a Protestant girl, my grandmother, and was for all practical purposes excommunicated from his family. He died in Connecticut around 1948-1950.
Doesn't sound like the guy you are looking for but how many William Aloysius McDevitts can there be?
