My name is Rob Ure, and I'm a descendant from the Horan, Darcy, McDermott lines on my mothers side. I see a lot of wonderful information here in this group and thought I'd share what I've learned about my ancestors to see if I might meet some cousins here! Here is the research I have gathered, I hope you find it useful:

-----------

By searching County Leitrim marriage records for the

marriage of John Horan and Kate Darcy. We found the following civil

marriage recorded in Drumkeeran civil district:-

John Horan married Catherine Darcy on 13/09/1900 in Drumkeeran

Roman Catholic church. John was full age, a bachelor, a farmer,

from Tullyloughin Co. Leitrim and his father was Patrick Horan, a

farmer, who was alive at the time of the marriage. Catherine Darcy

was full age, a spinster, a servant, from Gortnasilla East Co. Leitrim

and her father was Patrick Darcy, a farmer, also alive at the time of

the marriage. The witnesses were Thomas Horan and Maggie Darcy.

We then searched County Leitrim civil birth records and found the

following children recorded born to this couple in Dromahaire civil

district:-

1. Winifred born 31/07/1901 to parents John Horan (a farmer) &

Kate Darcy in Tullinloughin.

2. Catherine born 04/12/1903 to parents John Horan (a farmer)

& Catherine Darcy in Tullinloughan. (THIS IS MY GRANDMOTHER, WHO LATER MOVED TO NEW YORK)

Earlier Generation - Darcy Family

We checked for the birth of a Catherine Darcy to a father Patrick, and

found that her mother was Honor McDermott. We searched all our

County Leitrim marriage records for this Darcy & McDermott marriage

and found it recorded in civil records only, as follows:

Pat Darcy married Honor McDermott on 27/02/1865 in Innishmagrath

Roman Catholic church. Pat was aged 20 years, a bachelor, a

farmer, from Lisnanorris and his father was Pat Darcy, a farmer.

Honor McDermott was full age, a spinster, from Lisnanorris and her

father was James McDermott, a deceased farmer. The witnesses

were Owen McDermott and James Carol.

As their last child was born in 1876, therefore their childrens

baptisms will not be traceable.

We found the following children recorded born to this couple in

Drumkeeran civil district:-

1. Bridget born 26/10/1866 to parents Pat Darcy (a farm labourer)

& Honora McDermott in Lisnanorris Innismagrath.

2. Francis born 01/08/1869 to parents Pat Darcy (a farmer)

& Honor McDermott in Lisnanorris Innismagrath.

3. Catherine born at 9am on 22/03/1871 to parents Pat Darcy (a

farmer) & Honor McDermott in Lisnanorris Innismagrath.

4. Mary born at 9.10am on 22/03/1871 to parents Pat Darcy (a

farmer) & Honor McDermott in Lisnanorris Innismagrath.

5. Margaret born 18/12/1872 to parents Pat Dorsy (a farmer)

& Honor McDermott in Lisnanorris Innismagrath.

6. Pat born 28/01/1874 to parents Pat Darcy (a farmer) & Honor

McDermott in Lisnanorris Innismagrath.

7. Margaret born 08/11/1876 to parents Pat Darcy (a farmer)

& Honor McDermott in Lisnanorris Innismagrath.

Gravestone

We found what we believe to be the Darcy family grave in Newbridge

Old Church Graveyard the inscription reads as follows:

No 45

Hail Mary Holy Mary

In Loving Memory

Of

Patrick Darcy Lisnaneris

Died 18-July 1965

R.I.P.

Erected by his wife Rose

We believe that this Patrick Darcy to be your ancestor, Kate Darcy

Horan's brother.

We checked the 2006 Voters Register and found an Annie Darcy and

a James Darcy listed.

This completes our search on your Darcy family .
