Jane Phyllis McDermott Jane Phyllis McDermott (nee Bonath), 86, a longtime resident of Chicago Heights, passed away peacefully in Elgin, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home on March 3, 2009, after a long illness. Jane was a graduate of Bloom High School. She and her late sister Jean (Gaffney) were the first twins born at St. James Hospital In Chicago Heights, and the first female cheerleaders at Bloom. They co-owned the Bonath Twins School of Dance in Chicago Heights for over 35 years. Her students knew her as "Miss Jane". She is survived by her loving husband, William R. McDermott; her loving daughter, Teri (Tom) McDermott-Holzman; and loving son, Shawn. Jane was a proud grandmother of four, Kathryn, James and Margaret Barrett, and Casey McDermott. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Elsie (nee Hagenow) Bonath; her cherished youngest daughter, Kelly Barrett in 1998; and her beloved twin sister, Jean, in 2006. Jane's remarkable life will be celebrated at a luncheon in Elgin at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the family. For information, call 847-888-2206.
