My husband is trying to find family in Ireland. He is the only child of Donald James McDermott, deceased. Donald's father was Michael Joseph McDermott, born in Dublin, Ontario, Canada, October 27, 1873. Married Margaret Dorsey in Dublin, Ontario Canada. Michael died April 4, 1947 in Duluth MN USA. Trying to find out where Michael Joseph McDermott's father came from, was it Ireland and if so, when?
I also understand the McDermott name is sort of royalty as from what I have learned it is one of the few names accepted in the Irish Constitution. Would like to know if this is true?
Want to find family in Ireland as we plan to travel their in about a year. From what I have learned by research it appears the McDermott name is quite large in the Co Roscommon and Boyle area of Ireland. Would like to know if there are any relatives in that area?????
