Jo,
I am interested in your statement that you had heard that all McDermotts in Ontario came from three Irish brothers. I have been trying to find information, in vain, about my G-Grandfather, Thomas McDermott, b.5/18/1829 in Ireland, captain and owner of a lumber schooner, who lived in Kingston, Ontario. He had one sister, a Mrs. Anderson, that we know of. He married Mary A. Haggerty, (b. 5/24/1835), where and when unknown. They had five children, Catherine,b.10/1859, John, Thomas, and Mary Ann while living in Kingston. Mary Ann died in some kind of accident and the family moved to Tonawanda, NY, where my Grandfather, Edward was born in April of 1868. Could there possibly be any connection to these three brothers?
Any info would be appreciated. Karen
