Hi Teresa,
I also viewed your other McDermott posts...I saw your Callaghan connection--I believe a Callaghan had contacted me in the past with a Montclair/McDermott connection or in the least a Montclair connection.
I believe I am aware of your McDermotts since I copied most record for persons of that name out of the Immaculate Conception Church records. And I do believe I recall in some of the latter marriage records some McDermotts who had been baptized at Ballaghaderreen. However, I don't know of any connection to my McDermott as of yet.
I believe my McDermott and Gannons came from the central part of Roscommon-- I came to this conclusion from taking note of their friend and relations.I do have a baptismal record for a child of James McDermott and Ann Gannon (my ancestors) for a child who was baptized in the RC parish of Strokestown. Also, I have a birth record for another of their children in Scotland which gives there place of marriage as "Creagh"--the only Creagh I can find in Roscommon is on the boarder of Co. Galway in south Roscommon.
My James McD died in 1919; his death cert. gave his parents names as Thomas McD and Sarah Murphy.
I give you all the above information so you might be able to connect our families in the future.I will keep you Ballaghaderren McDemotts in mind and in my files.
Happy Hunting--Jim
