Hi Sonya,
Amazing the people you meet browsing the web. How’s everything going?
Some details on the McDermott/Shannon line you may/may not already have.
Bridget McDermott born 1859 @ Boyle, Roscommon to Lawrence McDermott & Hony Byrne.
Married Martin Shannon @ Boyle 20/2/1882
Stephen born 1883 @ Boyle
Thomas born Feb 1885 @ Boyle
Immigrated to Australia aboard “Cloncurry” as bounty passengers (Martin was a farm labourer in Ireland) – sailed from London 20 May 1885, arriving Townsville 16 July 1885.
Moved to Pentland where Annie was born 5/7/1887
Thomas died 29/9/1889 (aged 4) and is buried @ Pentland
Mary Agnes born 17/6/1892
Hanorah Kate born 28/10/1894
John born 3/6/1901
Bridget died 14/5/1908 and is buried at Pentland – refer http://members.fortunecity.com/wagener1/hpent1.htmhttp://members.fortunecity.com/wagener1/hpent1.htm
Annie married Anthony (Pop) Maddison 13/12/1909 and died of acute Rheumatism at Townsville (buried Belgian Gardens) 28/11/1923 (aged 36).
Incidentally both the passenger list for the “Cloncurry” & Annie’s death certificate shows their religion as Presbyterian – I’m not too sure when the RC kicked in.
Hope this has been of some help. I’d appreciate any further details you may have. Give our love to Mum next time you’re speaking to her.
Best wishes
Tony Maddison
