PHILIP WILLIAMS, son of DAVID and ANNA WILLIAMS was born in Bradford County, Pennsylvania, July 28, l845, and died July 27, l925, at the home of his daughter, MRS. MCDANIELS, near Leon. He moved with his parents to Minnesota in l855, later coming to Iowa. He married MISS SARAH BROWN, Jan. l, l87l. To this union one son was born. His wife died Aug. 6, l873, and Dec. 25, l878, he married LORETTA BUTLER. To this union six children were born, of which five survive their father. MRS. LORETTA WILLIAMS died Oct. l2, l899. He was married June 27, l907, to SAMANTHA CROY, who died Jan. 2l, l909.
Those surviving are: S.D. WILLIAMS, Emmett, N.D.; J.W. and B.H. WILLIAMS, Harlem, Montana; C.V. WILLIAMS of Spokane, Wash. and MRS. FLORENCE MCDANIELS, of Leon, Iowa; and a brother, G.S. WILLIAMS, of Montevideo, Minn.
Brother WILLIAMS was a life-time member of the Methodist Church, first in Minnesota, then in Iowa. He was so long as it was possible for him to come, always found in his place in the services of the church and Sunday School. He was of those who loved Christ, and His Church, and in that covenant with his Lord was faithful unto death.
Funearal wervices were conducted Friday afternoon at the home and at the Methodist Church in Leon, by J.E. Habliston, Pastor. Burial was at the Leon Cemetery.
