Jerald:
I am trying to locate the William McDaniels who was enumerated in the Onslow Co. 1830 census. I believe he is the husband of Mary "Polly" Rowe, a sister to my ancestor.
According to a family letter "Mary married a McDaniels and moved to Twiggs Co, GA." In the 1830 census a William McDaniels is living next door to Mary's widowed mother.
The dates match for Mary - ca.1800.
I've found a William and Mary McDaniel in Bibb Co, Al (close to where Mary's brother settled in Tuscaloosa Co) who's dates match, but the census says they were born in SC. I cannot find this Bibb Co. family after 1860 or in the 1850 census.
On the LDS sight I have recently found a listing for a William McDaniel with wife Mary, who's dates and birthdates match. No other information is given, though. The submitter is Margaret Pool Turley. I have her address and will write her to see if she has further info.
If any of this sounds familiar to you, please let me know. The old family letter also says that Mary took the family records with her. I'd love to get hold of those!
Cheryl
