Michelle,
I think we have the same family, but the children are a little different as I have them.
William H. and Mary Jane were in Van Buren County, Arkansas in 1870 and their children were listed in the census as Tennessee age 10, Leonard S age 8 (looks like these were the Kidd children instead of McDaniel), Margaret age 4, Sarah A. age 2, and Mary E.J. age 3 months. In the 1880 census Mary Jane is widowed.Living with her are her children Sarah A., Mary E.J. and William I. McDaniel, Tennessee Graham (her widowed daughter) and Tennessee's daughter Mattie Graham, and Mary Jane's son listed as Kid Leonard L. Graham which seems to be confusion on the part of the census taker.
William H. McDaniel's brothers, Thomas, Richard, Stephen and Commodore all also lived in Van Buren County.Stephen had a daughter named Dora (b. Dec. 1858), Thomas had daughters named Mollie and Josephine "Josie", and Commodore had daughters named Josie and Locky. Both William and Thomas had daughters named Sarah which could be the Sallie you mentioned in your post.Thomas McDaniel was named guardian of Stephen's young children after Stephen and his wife died in the Yellow Fever epidemic, so all the children were brought up together.
Hope this helps a bit.
