Hello Shirley,
I just finished looking at your posting on the McDaniel family genforum.I am really excited because I am researching a McDaniel family from Rockingham County Virginia too.I hope that you may be able to help me.I am at a brick wall with my oldest McDaniel grandfather. His name is James McDaniel and her was born around 1806.James married Mary ( Polly) Morris on July 8, 1834 in Rockingham County.I do not know the names of James parents.James and Polly had the following children; Malinda born about 1840, Zachariah L. born June 26,1842, Thomas born about 1844, James born about 1846, Susan born about 1848, Rebecca born about 1854 and Elizabeth born about 1855.
I am descendant from James and Polly's son Zachariah L. McDaniel.Zac married Elizabeth Anne Hensley. My McDaniel family lived in Rockingham County until the late 1800 and then moved into Greene County Virginia.Zac's funeral home records state that he was buried at Temple Hill Church Cemetery.I think that I have found that church but he is not listed as being one of the folks listed as being buried there.Zac died February 7, 1930.He wasburried by Priddy's in Barboursville in Orange County. The family had spread into Orange by that time and also Louisa and Albermarle Counties by his death.Zac and Anne had 14 Children that I know of so far.I have much information forward on there families and would love to share.I have a cousin named Ronnie McDaniel that I refer to as the McDaniel guru that has been helping me with my research.Ronnie has collected quite a bit of info on our family lines .We would love to share with you. Please email me at [email protected] just am hoping that since we are researching the same name in the same area that they may connect.I will anxiously look forward to hearing from you.I can not wait to hear from you.Take care.Until later
Cheers,
Cindy Smith Sweeney
