John McCurdy, weaver & wife Margaret

I'm still looking after some 40 years for the connection with my McCurdy ancestors who received land at Long Canes, Abbeville, SC in 1771. Their children were John Jr., Margaret, Agness, Jennet & Sarah. Agness was already married to Joseph Cunningham when they arrived in SC. I had always assumed they came directly from Northern Ireland. But, I've found that I am a direct genetic match in 37 alleles with Clark Boardman McCurdy. So, could my family have come to SC from Maine, Nova Scotia???? Please help if possible.
