Hi Lawrence,
I am a second cousin twice removed ofAloysious (Angus) John Thomas McCurdy. His great great grandfather Bryan Oge McCurdy, born Faughill, Cushendall, Antrim, Ireland in about 1760, was my GGG Grandfather. You are fortunate that there are very good records of this family line maintained on-line by Andrew Keogh at his excellent website ( www.rathlin-island.info ). I suggest going there and signing in (it's free and non-commercial) and then exploring the 'Rathlin Trees' link. Search for Driffield, because there are lots of John McCurdy's. Please note thatAndrew has not yet been able to post the information linking my family with Bryan Oge. It's quite a task for him to keep up to date.
Elizabeth Driffield is recorded as being born in Leeds, York, England in Oct. 1837. However, the family name McCurdy originates from the Isle of Bute.
Enjoy 'surfing', and make sure to share your information with Andrew. For my part, I have some records of descent from Bryan Oge McCurdy that I could share with you.
Cheers,
Andy McCready (my great grandfather changed the name from McCurdy when he immigrated to Canada in 1860)
