McCully (Scotland) - Searching for relatives
Posted by: Karen Pickering Date: October 15, 2001 at 23:34:33

Hello all

I am trying to find relatives in Scotland.

My grandmother was Maggie Goldie McCully. Born on 13 May 1903 in Motherwell, Scotland. She migrated to Australia with her parents as a young girl.
She was the daughter of William McCully (Coalminer) & Elizabeth (nee Bell).
It is believed she was the youngest of 14 children. The 10 siblings with known birth records were: James Bell McCully b.1882, Samuel McCully b.1883, Janet Bennie McCully b.1885, Jeanie McCully b.1888, John McCully b. 1889, William McCully b.1891, Duncan Bell McCully b.1893, Andrew Bell McCully b.1895, Donald Bell McCully b.1896 and Elizabeth McCully b.1900.
Uncle Duncan McCully used to writed to us in Australia years ago and sent gifts and calendars.

My great Grandmother was Elizabeth Bell
Daughter of John Bell (Ploughman) & Janet Ballantyne
Whose birth took place at Cleekhimmel on 26 June 1862 in the County of Lanark, Scotland

I have their old birth certificates that were given to my mother upon my grandmother's death. I would like so much to be able to find any relations we may have in Scotland or anywhere else and be able to write to them and share information.

I hope to hear from someone...sometime....With thanks
Karen Pickering
