Hi Ranette. It's so good to finally hear from someone on this. It's interesting that I do remember my grandmother saying that she was part Cherokee. I don't find any direct connection in the names you provided except for the fact that one of Hugh's brothers was named John Milton. And I have noticed that names get repeated in families back then. So I am wondering if the "Milton" is a commonality. Hugh Bunton McCullough (who would of been my gg-grandfather) had 13 siblings; Van Rensselaer, Constant Kesiah, Walter Rollin, William D., Sarah K., Francis Marion, Cythana A., Ralph Morgan, Drusilla Anne, Mary Jane, Samuel Clinton, John Milton, James Alvin. Their parents were John McCullough Jr. born in 1789 in Montgomery Kentucky Territory and Sarah A. Morgan. They were married in 1814 in Morgans Station Montgomery Kentucky.
When Hugh married Elizabeth Ann "Harriet" Brazelton, it was in Indiana. and several of the children (including my great grandfather Arthur Edgar) were born there before the family moved to Kansas. Hugh's children were Clara, Minnie May, Frances Della, Francis "Melvin", William Carol; and Arthur Edgar.I guess that's about all I have for now. Let me know if it's any help. John Sr. came from Pa. Then I have a James and before him a Samuel, both in Rowan co. NC. But then it stops. Hope to hear more from you.
Robin
