Hi Mark and Jerrie,
I followed with interest your discussion on the WV McColloch's. I have not personally documented the early McCulloch's but the family tree's posted in various places make my Albemarle Co., Va. family to be cousins with the group in Ohio Co., WV.
My earliest documented McCulloch is John in Albemarle who died there in 1789. His son John died in Alb. in 1795. This latter John had two sons, Robert, who married Sarah Wherry, and Thomas, who married Isabelle Patrick.Thomas moved his family to Washington Co., Va. and was killed at the Battle of Kings Mountain. Robert remained in Albemarle Co., Va. Most of his children moved to Cooper Co., Mo.
The Samuel McCulloch who married Elizabeth Ward is supposed to be the brother of my John if I remember correctly. Do either of you have anything in the volumes of info that you have that might strenghthen or debunk this link between the families? I, too, Jerrie have spent a lot of time in that library in Fairfax. It has an incredible amount of info to go through. I haven't made a dent in all of it yet. I would be happy to share the info that I have on the McCulloch's of Albemarle Co. I have spent days in the courthouse in Alb. researching this group.
Joyce
