McCrory Family Genealogy Forum
Your information is very interesting. Yes, there is some probability that John and Robert were brothers. The birth year of John approxmately matches what I have on his army enlistment record in 1814. The names of John's children also match up with the names of the brothers in the Fairfield, SC family and with the mother of the family. For example, the parents were Jane and John McCrory according to John McCrory's will of 1809. Listed were the following children: William, James, John and Robert (who was called Robin - a common diminutive of Robert, indicating a young boy), and Molly. The Jane, William, and Robert all match up with John McCrory's children in the 1860 census.
I think you can rule out the other McCrory family in Fairfield around 1800 since the age of the John in that family does not match. There are two other John McCrory's in this period. One is part of a family in Chester county but I'm pretty sure this family went to Tennessee and then to Missouri. The other is a McCrory family in Lancaster county. There was a John who was in Lancaster until about 1825 and then left. It is known that much of that family went to Butler County, Georgia but I'm not sure whether that included the John McCrory of the family. I also don't know his age.
