John's mention of Ohio made me pay attention.I am descended from a John T. McCrory who was supposedly born in Scotland in 1770 and came to the colonies with his brothers. His children were born in western Pennsylvania and they all moved west to Ohio in the early 1800's. He died on his farm near Ashland, Ohio in 1849, if I am remembering correctly. His wife's name was Elizabeth. My mother corresponded with some of the distant relatives also descended from him, who still live in the Ashland, OH area. One of them was a Mrs. Hugh McCrory. One of his (John T.'s)grandsons or maybe great grandsons (I will look in my copy of the family tree) was John Wesley McCrory, born Ashland, OH and moved to Indiana. His son, Albinas Neal McCrory, moved to Nebraska as a newlywed in 1879. I have his wife's account of life in the wild west of southeastern Nebraska.Their oldest son, Iva Cupid McCrory, was my grandfather. I'm at work, but I can probably tell you more if you are interested.
