Do you have any information on the James C. McCready that was born in Vermont.

When you indicated that your James was born in Vermont in 1797 I was hoping that he might have been the brother of my William's father.

I have found these McCreadys to be a very elusive bunch of folks.

My William McCready was born (based on census info) between 1815 and 1820 in either Vermont or New York. On the 1880 census he indicated that his father had been born in Scotland and his mother was born in New York. Married Betsy Elizabeth Ruckman.

His second son George Brown McCrady was born in Wilmington, Illinois on 26 October 1862. Some of the children were named McCready and some were named McCrady. My line comes from those without the "e". (I have been searching of late for a Brown from Vermont to Illinois who might have been married to a McCr(e)ady.) Married Annie Hilgert.

His first son George William McCrady was born in Iroqois, Illinois on 19 August 1883. Married Jennie Orange Phillips.

His first son Plummer Glorus McCrady was born in Pierce, Nebraska on 9 June 1910. (I asked his mother why she named him Plummer because when he was born he looked like a plum and Glorus was supposed to be Glorius because she had three pregnancies before him that ended in either a still birth or miscarriage.) Married Margaret Fern Temple.

His first son (still living) was born in Wyoming.

And then there was me.
