I believe that your James C. and John W. McCray were children of David and Permelia Wingate McRae. David McRae's father and mother were John McRae and wife Elizabeth of Pulaski Co., GA. Several of David's siblings also lived in Thomas County. The parentage of John McRae is uncertain, but I believe that he may have been the brother of a Daniel McRae whose children also lived in Thomas County.
