Thanks Folks,
I don't do much posting and I hope someone that knows these families will read this and enlighten me.
This started with myself and my cousins doing some Hamilton Family Genealogy. What we found was this:
James A Hamilton, b. circa 1770, came from Ireland.
He had a 1st marriage in the Charlotte Co.,VA area.
A son from this marriage: Robert Anderson Hamilton.
Robert was still in the Charlotte Co.,VA 1810-1820.
We are not for sure on the wife or her family.
James A. Hamilton had a 2nd marriage in Charlotte Co.,VA.
The marriage was around 1793/94. This marriage was to:
Elizabeth " Betsy " McCraw.
In James A Hamilton's will he calls her Betsy Wear/Weir.
We found a 1st marriage for her to Wear/Weir.
We also found her father was Stephen/Steven McCraw.
Nothing else about him.
We have searched for her family for years.
Then we came across a book in the Claiborne Co.,TN
library. " Old Time Tazewell ", by Mary A Hansard.
This book was written around 1889. It was a book about
the memories of someone that lived in Claiborne Co.,TN
from the turn of the century, 1800. She wrote it all down
and her granddaughter had it published.
In this book she states that there also lived a very
respectable citizen there named William Thompson.
This William Thompson was married to Catherine Shearman.
And Catherine Shearman was the 1st cousin of Old
Mr. Hamilton's wife, Betsy McCraw.

Now, there are several Wear/Weir living in the early 1800's
in Claiborne Co.,TN. No McCraw's.
We are trying to trace back Betsy McCraw, not just to Stephen McCraw, but find some sisters and brothers and
her mother. Who was Stephen McCraw married to?
Thank anyone for their time and help.
Sincerely,
Sue Bryant
