Many years ago, I wrote and obtained all of the McCraws with telephone numbers and wrote to them. I am sorry did not keep the responses but I can put you in touch with two McCraw families we visited with when we were in Scotland in 1984. There are more McCraws and female McCraws who have married in the telephone directory in Mt. Airy NC than there are in all of Scotland/England.
The name John McCraw came down in the U. S. many times. Family legend is that the ancestor of the U. S. McCraw came from the Isle of Skye. No proof yet.
