We are desperate to find out the names of all the children of Jesse Anderson McCraw and Mary Frances Keeling. In 1880 census they were living in Hopkins Co,TX and only Hampton,age 6,Willis (my grandpa),age 4, and baby daughter. No one seems to know this daughter's name or the rest of the children's names. My aunt's say there was a Jocie (sp?) and Ocie (sp?) and that one was killed around Hugo, OK by Indians. According to my daddy, in re Uncle Hamp(ton) and Uncle Jocie, one worked for the Us Mint? and one owned a hotel in Florida. He also remembers going with his Poppa (Willis Shelton) to visit Aunt French near Durant, OK. We found out this was Olive Jane (Anna) McCraw that married a Levi French. My brother actually talked to one of Anna French's great-grandsons.
Bottom line, my daddy is 85 yrs old and his sister Ruth Chapman in 95 yrs old. I would like to do this in their lifetime. We have a McCraw family reunion for Willis Shelton's decendants every year at the Bonham State Park in Bonham,Fannin Co,TX. It is usually in June around Father's Day. I would love to get some of Woodrow's and Ruth's "cousins"/kinfolk to the reunion next year.
When is the next big McCraw reunion (2004?) and where? Will look forward to hearing from you. I live in Denison,Grayson Co,TX. There are some other McCraw's in the area that I thought we were no kin to but am thinking they may be part of this line that I am looking for. I will try to contact some of them. Am also very interested in the new "It's McCraw not McGraw" book/cd.
