Hugh and Murdock McCraney (McCraine/McCrain) came from Scotland, Isle of Jura, to Cape Fear, NC in 1739 on vessel "Thistle". Their parents Archibald and Ann McLean McCranie stayed in Scotland. Source: Directory of Scots in the Carolinas 1680-1830 by David Dobson Hugh was born in 1704 and Murdock in 1707. NC census and baptismal dates match. Hugh died ca. 1788 in Robeson, NC. He was married to #1 Catherine Bluie #2 Elizabeth Baker. children of Catherine: Murdock Catherine m: Clark Annie d: Robeson NC Effie m: McLean Murdock married Marian McLean Children: Marian McCrain d: March 1813 m: Shaw more children of Elizabeth.
