Hi Frank,
My husband, Ron, is related to Mary McCrea Nellis, who was Patrick and Flora's daughter.I think your ancestor, Hugh A. McCrea was the son of Michael and his first wife Elizabeth Lolly or Solly. He married again, Mary Weiss, and had about 9 or 10 more kids.I have a descendant register of the McCreas and an article by Mary Masterson that a distant cousin of yours and my husbands sent me. His name is Joel Hurt and he lives near Pittsburgh.I would be glad to send them to you if you don't already have them.I think you have the newpaper article about Hugh S. Mccrea. It was in the Oil City Blizzard in 1890.
We visited Brandywine Battlefield last summer and they told us that a lot of the bodies, both British and American, were buried in mass graves because it was so hot.We didn't have any luck finding either Michael or Patrick at that battlefield.
We went to Ireland in June and went to the PRONNI in Belfast to try to find records of the McCreas. No luck.Michael and Patrick left in the 1700's and there was no records of them. It was too long ago.We know Michael was married to Suzanne Quinn, but don't know what happened to her or if there were any other children. We know they came from County Antrim, but never found out for sure the name of the parish they came from.County Antrim is very big.It was disappointing, but we sure loved Ireland.
The cemetary is taken care of by a grant instituted by one of the grandchildren of Patrick.Or maybe a gr grandchild. I wish Patrick and Flora's tomb stones were more legible.I don't know if they could be cleaned.
Let me know if you want the stuff I have.I'll have to have your adress. We live in Warren, PA.
