My Great grandfather was Hugh A. McCrea last son of Patrick and Eliza. Just within the last few months I have been searching for my McCrea roots. I have the family history of the battle of Brandywine and the newspaper story of Hugh S. and Patience McCrea. In July, 2 McCrea cousins and I visited family in Butler Pa.(we live in Ohio). We also visited Eagle Rock and McCrea's run.
I see by your postings that you have a lot more info. than we do, since you are looking for the birth place info. on Patrick and his father Michael. I read recently where Gen. Howe used the meeting house at Brandywine after the battle for a hospital, and that several officers who died there were buried in the grave yard on the north side of the building. Is this the burial place of Capt. Michael McCrea, Patrick's father? Did Patrick have siblings? Any information you may have would be appreciated.
We noted flowers and flags on some graves at Eagle Rock. Also the cemetery was in good condition for it's location. Who takes care of it? Thanks, Frank Woods
