My g.g.grandfather Robert McCracken was born 14 Feb 1818 in Belfast,Down,Ireland. His father owned or part owned a linen mill there. Robert left Ireland 15 Feb 1847 and arrived in New York 26 Mar 1847. Something happened, maybe a diagreement between father and son but Robert said that his fathers name would never come from his lips. So we do not know his fathers name. He did say that he named some of his children after his brothers and sisters. He married Edith Boyle about 1849 and they had 9 children, two sets of boy/girl twins. They lived in PA, OH, and then moved to Beaver Crossing,Neb., where they died in 1875 and 1876. Their children had them buried in the Valley View Cemetery in Jewell County, Kansas. This is where their oldest daughter Margaret McCracken Harkins and her family resided till their deaths. We have pictures of Robert and Edith McCrackens tombstone. Does anyone have any information on the Robert McCracken family in Ireland that would help me to establish his family?
