I am late in joining this conversation! I have a Robert McCracken, born Co Down May 15, 1842. Father, John McCracken, mother Mary (possibly Anderson). He died in Co Antrim Feb 19, 1880. Robert married Rose Ann Black and had at least four children: Margaret Anderson McCracken, born Broughshane, Ballymena, Co Antrim Aug 20, 1873; Robert McCracken, who died in the Battle of the Somme, July 1, 1916, William, and Matthew. Any possible connections?
