I have been trying to solve that puzzle for the better part of 6 years. The best reference available on the subject in questions...the 1882 History of Washington County Penn. With Biographical Sketches...does not given any names of children for David (Other than one boy who died young) other than he had several and all the sones "went west" My best educated guess is that Samuel is one of David's sons and Sarah either his Daughter or a Daughter of his brother Andrew. (Much more data is available on Andrew and his family.) It gets equally confusing when you see that David and Andrew lived right next door to each other on farms...but...the Township Line between Amwell and Franklin Townships ran DIRECTLY between them so they often appear in totally seperate sections of whatever resource you are checking...maps included. That book I mentioned up top on Washington Counnty has been digitized for ages in available FREE at many locations online. Just do a search for a similar title and the year 1882 and you will get a WEALTH of data on Washington Co,. Penn. Hopes this has been of some small help, let me know if I can helo in any other way.
