There was a large group of my McCracken's in N. Ireland (Co. Down) in the 1700's, possibly earlier. A group of them left in 1800-some went to Scotland, some went elsewhere-One was William McCracken b. abt 1786 who married Jean Gorman. Then another group of McCracken family left between 1844-1850 (William's brother Alexander b. abt 1792 and his wife Martha Murphy) and ended up in living in the same neighborhoods as the earlier McCracken families. I'm sure some of this line left for America. I need to do more research in Ireland. I'm getting some help from a researcher in Scotland but now must find someone to help me that lives in N. Ireland vacinity.
