You didn't provide his birth or death dates but if you haven't already I suggest trying to get his death certificate and obituary. If neither one indicates who his parents were hopefully it will list his siblings. With their names you can try to find the right family in the census and perhaps get his siblings death certificates and obituaries.
You could also try the cemetery where he is buried. Their records just might have where he was born and if you are lucky who his parents were.
