Jane: Do you by any chance have a marriage place and date for William McCoy and Catherine Stevens? I notice that their first known son, Nathan, was born ca 1846. In the 1850 census the family was living in Hancock County, Ohio; then briefly to Pickaway County; but then back north to Wyandot County. Wyandot County was formed in part from a piece of Hancock County. I am wondering if they actually came back to the same place but the county name had changed for their plot of land. Have you checked deeds for them there? Do you know who Catherine's parents were? I notice in the 1880 census that she reported that they had been born in Maryland. I wonder if the McCoys and the Stevens knew each other before arriving in Ohio. I am looking at the McCoys of Washington County, Maryland also as a possible connection to my Mackie / Mackay / Mckee etc family. It is amazing how corrupted this surname could get by those early recorders! Jody Thomson Notify Administrator about this message?
