I believe this McCoy line (my line) came from Maryland and Pennsylvania. I found an Archibald McCoy who married a Rosanna Martin on 6-03-1789 in Carlisle, Allegheny Cty. I can prove this from a library book.
Next, I have a timeline of my McCoys from the WVA Archives which shows an Archibald McCoy paying a tithe in Rockbridge,Va. in 1783. The following line shows Edmund/Edmond Mccoy being born in Rockbridge 1784. (not his father but a relative for sure)
Thirdly, I have an email from someone connected to this line who found an Archibald McCoy in Clifton Forge,Va. in 1784. It is in Alleghany County about 40 miles from Lexington,Va.
Fourthly, I have several pages of documents sent to me by another person last year but the email address no longer exists. This information was taken from Bible records. Like all documents it is not complete.
Fifth, I know that John McCoy and Lois; William McCoy and Mary unknown; Thomas McCoy were closely related as I saw deeds etc that shows them in Rockbridge,Va. together.
These are the children: The father of these siblings probably born c1710-1728.
If
Archibald was a brother, he would have been born in the 1750'or 1760's. I have most of the dates for these siblings.
John born 2-05-1752; William born 1754; Thomas born 10-28-1756; James born 2-19-1760; Andrew born 12-19-1761; Mary born c1763 (m. Robert Cleghorn 12-02-1783) She was also an Aunt to Edmond McCoy, the son of William. Elinor born 3-05-1766. These McCoy settled in Rockbridge,Va and Highland Cty. Ohio.
There were probably other children. I would appreciate if someone could tell me the parents of these children. Thank you Ann.
