Mary Melvina McCown b. 1827 daughter of John McCown, blacksmith, married Samuel A. Paxton b. 1820 on 5/12/1844.
They lived on the Paxton tract of the Borden Grant, South River District, Rockbridge County, VA

John McCown lived in what was then called Whites Gap now called Cornwall also located in South River district.

Samuel A. Paxton died 10/1864 a prisoner at Point Lookout Federal Prison, MD of wounds suffered at battle of Gettysburg.

Does anyone know what became of Mary? These are my g-g-grandparents.

Thanks!
Jim Jenkins
Smithfield, NC
