Margaret, I also descend from Duncan.
Concerning Benjamin B., this is from the book ROSTER of CONFEDERATE SOLDIERS of GEORGIA. Muster Roll of Company K, 53rd Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry, Army of Northern Virginia, C. S. A..Monroe County, Quitman Guards: McCowen, Benjamin B.-Enlisted as a private in Co. K, 1st Regt. Ga. Inf.(Ramsey's), Mar. 18, 1861. Mustered out at Augusta, Ga. Mar. 18, 1862. Elected 2d Lieutenant of Co. K, 53rd Regt. Ga. Imnf. May 6, 1862. Killed at Gettysburg, Pa. July 2, 1863.
Would like to share info, tho I don't have a lot for this family.
