I am just starting to research the McCowan branch of the family. This is what I know James M. (Bud) McCowan (b. 3 November 1872 in Buckfield, Kentucky) married Amanda Caldona (Mandy) Jones (b. 10 June 1876 buried in Smith Ridge-John Rose Cemetary) on 12 June 1894 in Nora Virginia. I think his father was James Delano McCowan.

James M. (Bud) McCowan and Amanda Caldona (Mandy) Jones had multiple children including James Jackson McCowan. James Jackson McCowan (b. 30 May 1907 in Pikeville, KY d. 26 May 1988 in Clintwood, VI) married Ida Compton (b. 7 December 1910 in Pike Co., Kentucky d. 13 May 1995 in Clintwood, Virginia) on 7 December 1929.

Their children included--Virginia Nadine McCowan (b. 6 October 1927 in Brikfield, Pikeville, Kentucky m. Cecil Clate Williams on 5 November 1945 in Wyse, Virginia).
