McCowan Families in Alabama 1850-1860?

Looking for info on McCowan/McCown/McCowen
(and any other possible variations)families
who were in Alabama around 1850-1866.
I have a POSSIBLE female ancestor, whose
name could have been "Madie McCowan" (or
any name that could be similar to that)
who md. a Tom/Thomas Worthy,probably in
late 1850's. (Or, the marriage date could be
1860, or after.)
I have been told they lived in Alabama
(somewhere)before moving in 1866 to Mississippi. Madie died not long after their
arrival there (1866 or 1867)
They had a son, named "James Thomas Worthy"
b. in 1863(in Alabama, we think). Also, may
have had a daughter named Mollie/Molly.
Have never found a marriage rec. for this
marriage in Alabama (and I have tried).
Have studied the 1850 & 1860 Census recs. of
Alabama carefully trying to match up
McCowan families with Worthy families.
Does anyone know any details of families
of these men?
James McCowan (Randolph Co.)
Greenberry McCowan (Chambers Co.)
J.W. McCowan (Tallapoosa Co.)
Does anyone know of any McCowan female
who md. a man with surname of "Worthy" or
"Worthey" in 1850's??
This is something I've been banging my
head against for many years. Just decided to
try a different angle.
Thanks for any direction.
Carol Hanson
