Johnstone, Maguire Matches

FTDNA Y-DNA results for me are heavily weighted with Maguire/Fermanagh/Cavan related matches. My only Scottish 67 marker match is with Johnstone of the former Dumfries Shire area. I am posting this message to all of the variant spellings of MacCowan/MacGowan bulletin boards. If you have not been tested by FTDNA and want to find your family history, you also may find Ulster rich results. If you decide to take the convenient, painless, bloodless test, please use one of the McCowan variant spelling FTDNA Surname Groups so that you will get the discounted price. Also, be sure to have FTDNA show all results regardless of surname! In my case, I do not match any other McCown above 12 markers but have a slew of Maguire related matches at 25,37 and 67 markers. The best tests are the 37 marker test followed closely by the 67 marker test. Irish Scotti traded and moved into southwest Scotland from Roman times. One of them may have been a common ancestor with the Maguires.
