The reason I had difficult in finding the parent of John L. McCowen was because he had changed the spelling of his name—imagine that. He had changed to from McQuown to McCowen. His father was Ephraim McQuown and his mother was Ann Ireland. His grandfather was Laurence McQuown (McQuon).

BTW - His wife's maiden name was Lawrence.
