I am interested if anyone has information regarding the McCowans or McCowens of Nicholas County, Kentucky.
According to the 1880 Census there was a John McCowen married to a Manda (Amanda) whom together had eight children. James, David, Ephraim "Tom", William, Miley, Robert, John, and Walls.
John was probably born in or around 1840, but I don't know who his father was and when the McCowens made their way to Nicholas Co. and from where. Also, I don't know Manda's maiden name. All I know is that she was born 1837 and died 1925.
If anyone could help, it would be much appreciated.
