I have been told that the name Court was perhaps a shortened version of MacCourt / McCourt. But I am not sure of the truth in that.
My grandfather, Paul August Court was born and raised in Saint Louis MO Along with his family from previous. They were German/Prussian as well fromwhat I've been told, with Irish as well. and is where I get a great deal of my german and so forth in me.
My Grandfather's either great grandfather or so on, had the last name of Stubenraugh (Sp?) as well, and was said to be a steam ship captain.
He also had a brother named Charles Court who was last heard of to be in Tennessee.
He had a brother named Bob/Robert Court who died that I know nothing of.
Dolly and Honey were twin sisters of his, that actually still reside living.
Rooth Court who married and took the name Rooth Benz, was another sister of his, who had died leaving a daughter named Faith Court I believe.
Ido not know the name of his parents but can find out if this has helped at all.
Also my grandfather died in 95' when I was around 8 I believe.
Leaving behind his wife Dorothy Court (Her maiden name being Wittekind) and three children of theirs:
Sue Hardy (Maiden name Court) -My Aunt.
Barbara Denise Elliott (Maiden name Court) -My mother.
Paul August Court -My uncle.
If ANY of this helps....PLEASE write me back... I am hopelessly searching for answers like yourself....
Sincerely,
-Jewel Elliott
