McCorveys of N. Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Arkansas

I believe that nearly all McCorveys in the southern United States are descended from one ancestor family, who came from Kintyre, Scotland to Robeson Co., North Carolina about 1783.

I posted this theory to the Rootsweb [ARGYLL] forum (Scotland) last week, and by this message I hope to invite other McCorvey relatives to share their information and family stories here---or to contact me privately.

I am not in the McCorvey line, but I am researching my Scottish grandfather's extended family. His brother Thomas Robertson came to America in the 1880s, just a few years ahead of his brothers and sisters.

He settled in Union Co., Arkansas, and operated a lumber business there at the turn of the 20th century. He married one Kate NEAL, the daughter of a local businessman. Kate's sister Millie married one John Taylor MC CORVEY, and I am trying to trace that family.

I would also be delighted to read about any Georgia, Alabama or North Carolina Mc Corveys, because it's virtually certain that they are all related.

Thanks!
