McCormac seems to be spelled in many different ways concerning the same people. It must be determined by which way the wind is blowing. In Robeson County 1850 Census Archibald D. McCormaig 51 wife Catherine 52 Children Harriet 18, Evander 15 and Margaret J. 11. Evander McCormac married Susan Bracey. She was born April 6, 1826 and died Sept 15, 1906. She is buried in Iona Church Cemetery near Fairmont, NC. Their children were Artemus born Sept 11, 1856 and died Sept 17, 1909. He married Ellizabeth Manila McKellar. He and Elizabeth are buried in Bennettsville,
SC. My mother was their daughter. Another child of Susan and Evander was Evander McCormick. His death certificate Robinson County 1933 #648 states that he was born Aug 28, 1858 and died April 29, 1933. He is also buried in the Iona Cemetery near Rowland. A third Son Samuel Frank McCormick was born 1860 and died July 22, 1928. Death certificate Robinson County 1928 #366. I have been unable to learn where and when Evander born about 1835 died or is buried. Since I have not found any children born after 1860, I now believe Evander probably died in the Civil War.
