The Robert McCorkle (1841-1891) you mention lived the same years as Fannie McCorkle's brother did. Most likely the same person. I'mtrying to get more information about the family when living in Scotland and Ireland.I was in Clearfieldon 10-26-00 at the Historical Society doing research &found Fannies obit.I have notes from Aunt Lillian about McCorkles at Hillcrest and Altoona, and History of Smiths by Aunt Alta about McCorkles that came to Clearfield County late 1850's and 1860. Robert was one of six siblings: Fannie, (Maggie married Wm Buchanan had five children, then married George Shirey who had six children), Wm McCorkle, James McCorkle, Robert (1841-1891), and Rebecca who married a Jury. John McCorkle moved his family from County Donegal, Ireland to Glasglow Scotland in 1848 during the potatoe famine, worked for a land lord and started a store, They came to Clearfield as stated. If I live long enough I could find the needle in hay stack at either Glasglow or County Donegal. Hope this helps out.If you find anything about their orgins in Ireland and Scotland, please do not forget to let me know.Thank you in advance. We will be positive in our search.
