Henry McCorkle Family in Rockbridge Co., VA-1800s
Posted by: Bill Davidson (ID *****1886) Date: April 11, 2012 at 08:09:44
  of 1228

Does anyone know the lineage of the Henry McCorkle (age 50, so born about 1800) who appeared on the 1850 Rockbridge Co., VA census? He apparently married Mary "Polly" Davidson, who was a daughter of Robert Davidson and Sarah "Sally" Davidson.

Note: The above Robert Davidson was a son of John Davidson/Davison and Mary Allison of Rockbridge Co., VA, while Robert's wife Sarah "Sally" Davidson was a daughter of William Davidson and Martha Baker of "next-door" Botetourt Co., VA. The William and Martha (Baker) Davidson family was part of DNA "Family 10" at www.davidsongenes.org, while the almost certainly unrelated John and Mary (Allison) Davidson/Davison family currently has no known male Davidson DNA donors.

The 1850 Rockbridge Co., VA census showed children in Henry McCorkle's home who were named William P. McCorkle (born about 1827) and Cornelia R. McCorkle (born about 1832). Does anyone know what became of those children? Thanks!
